TECHNOLOGY & CRAFT

Material.
Texture.
Casting.

The surface is not printed onto a sheet. Material, pattern and composite construction come together through a controlled casting process.

THE PLATFORM

Real material, cast into a three-dimensional architectural surface.

S3 works with Metallic Bonded and Crystal-Quartz Bonded material systems. In both, the visible material is integrated into a fibre-reinforced polymer matrix rather than applied as a superficial coating.

01

Material becomes character

Metal granules or crystallised quartz establish the visual and tactile identity of the finished sheet.

02

Pattern becomes depth

Original pattern and mould development define relief, shadow and the architectural expression of the surface.

PROCESS

From design intent to finished surface.

01

Pattern development

Design intent is translated into an original repeat, texture or bespoke surface language.

02

Mould development

The mould acts as the design tool that captures the required relief and repeat.

03

Casting

Material is cast into the developed pattern to create the integral three-dimensional sheet.

04

Finishing & quality

Finishing, inspection and preparation complete the architectural surface.

Public technology information intentionally stops short of proprietary ratios, temperatures, formulations, tooling details and process parameters.
